Meet Ron

About Ron Podmore

Ron Podmore has been a popular, award-winning secondary teacher in the Seattle metropolitan region for over 30 years. He’s been featured on the NBC affiliate, Seattle station of KING-5 with Margaret Larson, PBS, CBS, Suzie Orman and a host of other media markets. During his tenure and as a published author, he has written two books. He is currently working on a third detailing the rapid, positive changes occurring in Central America.

In 2013, while working as a consultant for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS.org) in Washington, D.C., he was introduced to professionals from Central America. This prompted an invitation to visit and learn more about public education in Guatemala at which Ron jumped at the opportunity.

As they say, the rest is history.

To date, with over 20 trips exploring Central America, mostly to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, he recognizes a growing need to change the narrative and share positive stories from this area of the world.

Ron finances and produces the video content promoting the best of these Central American countries. All of his videos are produced with a locally sourced camera and audio crew, along with a shoe-string budget. No million-dollar production, no Hollywood hype. Ron travels and experiences everything Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Where he goes, he solidifies for viewers that these countries are friendly, welcoming and embrace the tourist experience. Eventually he will introduce viewers to additional Central American countries and South America in future episodes.

Ron’s goal is to capture the attention of both international corporations and tourism in general to consider exploring these countries. He sees the incredible wealth of opportunities that these Central American countries can offer and knows that the time is now to elevate them to a significant role in the American economy. This will help reduce unwarranted immigration to our country from other parts of the world.

Ron travels to Central America quarterly supporting these countries in various ways. When not assisting tourism in Central America, he is researching commercial and port developments that can promote enhanced trade with the United States and other multinational corporations. He researches new off-the-beaten-path activities and continuously explores past Mayan empires. Ron finds sustainable, locally sourced, safe and memorable tourist experiences and accommodations while in Central America.

Ron’s video episodes end with “Life does begin outside your comfort zone.”
